🌟Workshop Summary:
Current understanding of nervous system functioning, trauma patterning and attachment theory offers evidence-based support for somatic practices as relational nourishment.
Certified Intuitive Eating Counselors Caroline Gebhardt and Nicole Mareno invite relational and developmental somatic movement practices to foster autonomy and individuation.
Participants also get to explore a deeper understanding of the rhythm of the engagement and release of the two branches of the vagus affecting co-regulation and digestive functioning.
🌟 Objectives:
1) Demonstrate how exploring the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating can be a reparative and co-regulating process for clients when providers offer relationally-based somatic practices.
2) Practice somatic applications of polyvagal theory that are invitational and developmental to recognize how oppositional movements support the processes of developing autonomy and individuation as well as digestive functioning.
3) Describe how deprivation and restriction align with dorsal vagal Shut-down and how relationally based somatic practices that affect the rhythmic engagement and release of the ventral and dorsal branches of the vagus can help promote the nervous system state Rest & Digest.
